Top 11 local players to watch out in PSL 2022

With the Pakistan Super League (PSL) getting off today, the event promises to be action-packed, with some of the game’s best players taking part.

Cricket fans are expecting to see energetic athletes who are poised to dominate the sport for many years to come.

National players who could create headlines during the seventh season of the PSL are examined by Geo.tv:

Karachi Kings: Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan

Babar Azam, who recently received the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award for 2021, will be the focus of attention because he is also the captain of the Karachi Kings.

Apart from the captaincy, Babar will be his team’s key batter this season, and his performance will be crucial. With 554 runs, the great batter finished the PSL 2021 season as the highest run-getter.

Apart from Babar, the aggressive opening batsman Sharjeel Khan will be a player to keep an eye on, thanks to his ferocious batting abilities, which he demonstrated in the previous edition by scoring a century.
Both can be the most dangerous opening duo, with Babar controlling one end with his elegant batting and Sharjeel dazzling the spectators with his power-hitting ability on the other.

Lahore Qalandars: Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman

Shaheen Shah Afridi will be under pressure this year to surpass others after winning the ICC Cricketer of the Year Award 2021. He has also been named as the skipper of the Lahore Qalandars.

Fakhar Zaman, on the other hand, will be the backbone of the Qalandars’ batting line-up. The Qalandars’ fans would want Fakhar to hit boundaries for his club in crucial occasions because he is an experienced and aggressive batter.

Both will be expected to shine for the Qalandars at important moments and lead the team to their first PSL victory.

Multan Sultans: Mohammad Rizwan and Shahnawaz Dahani

Last year, Sultans were guided to their first PSL triumph by Mohammad Rizwan, who just earned the ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year Award. He will not only be under pressure to defend the championship, but he will also be the go-to batsman and wicketkeeper for his team.

Multan Sultans will be looking for Rizwan to continue his outstanding form in the tournament after being the top scorer in the shortest format in 2021.

Meanwhile, Shahnawaz Dahani, a native of Larkana’s small town, wowed cricket fans with some outstanding performances during the last PSL season, finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 20 scalps and playing vital roles for his club.

Rizwan and Dahani will both be under pressure to deliver in different capacities if Multan is to defend their PSL championship.

Islamabad United: Asif Ali and Azam Khan

United has several star players in their lineup, including captain Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali, but it will be hard-hitter Asif Ali who will be the one to watch in PSL 2022.

The right-handed hitter earned waves after appearing in two critical T20 World Cup 2021 match-winning cameos.
Asif was chastised for just playing in the leagues, but he hushed his detractors by leading Pakistan to victory against New Zealand and Afghanistan with his spectacular sixes, and a lot will depend on him to play some vital innings for United in this PSL as well.

Azam Khan, who will join United after leaving Quetta, is another guy to keep an eye on because of his tremendous power-hitting ability. He has been chastised for playing in the shadow of his father, Quetta’s coach, Moin Khan, but with a new squad this year, Azam can draw attention if he performs to his full ability in the PSL.

Quetta Gladiators: Shahid Afridi and Naseem Shah

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi will be the centre of attention, as his fans expect him to make the final season of the PSL a memorable one.

At the age of 16, pace bowler Naseem Shah rose to attention for his ability to bowl at a fast pace, and he also became the youngest bowler in Test cricket to take a hat-trick.

However, he has been out of the squad recently, and owing to his bowling talents and talent, he will be the guy to watch this time around. Because Mohammad Hasnain is out, Naseem will be Quetta’s most important bowling weapon.

Peshawar Zalmi: Haider Ali
