Punjab Educational Boards Change the Matric Exam Pattern

Starting in 2025, all matriculation exams in Punjab will be in English for both science and arts subjects.

This means that Urdu will gradually be removed from question papers to make sure all subjects are in the same language. By 2026, even optional subjects for FA exams will be in English.

This plan hasn’t been formally approved yet, but educational authorities hope it will be agreed upon in the next Punjab Boards Committee Chairmen (PBCC) meeting.

However, Rana Liaqat Ali, the General Secretary of the Punjab Teachers Union, has concerns about the switch to English. He thinks there might be challenges, especially for teachers who will need training. He also worries about students struggling because of the language change.
