While every successful person has his or her own unique approach, there are a lot of common patterns you can find when you read their books and watch interviews and lectures. Here are 10 things that many successful people do each day!
1. They focus on productivity, not on being busy.
We live in a society where people are paid by the hour, yet as an entrepreneur, you should never pay yourself as a boss would! Reward yourself for getting things done rather than for spending time working. When you operate a business, you get compensated for your products and services rather than your time.
What if you wish to work in a corporate setting? Consider it this way: When your productivity considerably exceeds that of your teammates, you have a positive impact on your organization, and you are more likely to be promoted!
2. They set S.M.A.R.T. goals.
What does it mean to be successful? The majority of individuals would define success as achieving a goal. Setting unattainable goals, on the other hand, will never lead to success. Many goals are either unachievable or too hazy to be followed through on.
Try setting S.M.A.R.T. goals instead. The term S.M.A.R.T. stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. The abbreviation pretty much sums it up. These are goals that are specific, narrowly defined, and against which you can track your progress.
They are attainable in a limited length of time and are crucial to your overall success.
Setting a succession of S.M.A.R.T. goals is an excellent way to achieve larger, less well-defined objectives. Consider each.
3. They take the leap.
What is the most common reason why many people never achieve their life goals? It’s most likely a refusal to try! The greater your ambitions, the more frightening the prospect of failure might be. But that’s no excuse not to give it a shot. You might believe that what you don’t know can’t hurt you.
The truth is, not giving yourself a chance is costing you money every day. So go ahead and take that risk you’ve been putting off. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking this chance. You never know; it could be the turning point in your life.
4. They exercise and eat right.
Successful people who maintain their status over time do not misuse their bodies. They set aside time each day to prepare and eat nutritious meals as well as exercise.
Even President Barack Obama finds time to work out every morning before going to work, frequently for 90 minutes.
You have time for a daily workout if the most powerful (and busy) man on the planet does!
5. They lead balanced lives.
There is a lot of pressure in the professional environment to always be working. If you’re not working 20 hours a day and sleeping four hours a night, you don’t want it bad enough. That is what you will hear from folks in almost any sector.
That is simply not the case, and people who live in this manner will eventually burn out and collapse badly. They believe that by sacrificing their health, relationships, and leisure time for a few difficult years, they will be able to coast for the rest of their lives.
Entrepreneurship rarely, if ever, works in this manner. Most successful entrepreneurs put forth a lot of effort over a lengthy period of time.

Wherever possible, successful people focus on the positive—but not mindlessly. Optimism allows us to see changes that we would otherwise overlook if we were focused on the bad.
While you must always plan for the future and potential dangers, you must also believe that there is a route out of the chasms below. Otherwise, you’ll either have to turn around before the voyage is finished or take a tumble along the route.
7. They make the most of their networks.
If they don’t have to, the most successful people never try to do it alone, and they are continually looking for methods to network and grow their circle of friends and business contacts.
They understand that every discussion is an opportunity and that it may contain the germ of a new business partnership or initiative.
When they are faced with a difficult situation, they seek advice from others. When people in their networks are having difficulties, they give help.
8. They keep failure in perspective.
You’ve probably met executives who brag about their lack of failure experience—or so they claim. However, those folks are frequently deceiving you or are not as successful as they appear. Perhaps they were simply fortunate and developed an empire through a stroke of luck or a hefty inheritance.
In truth, most people’s success is built on a series of setbacks and lessons learned. Allowing your past failures to drag you down or make you feel like a failure is not a good idea. Every day, successful people learn from their mistakes and know that as long as they do, they are on the right track.
9. They log their progress.
If you don’t have a mechanism to track your progress, you won’t be able to achieve your goal. Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals comes into play here. Remember that the “M” in “Measurable” stands for “Measurable.”
Many successful people keep some type of journal or log. Stock traders, authors, business CEOs, and people from many walks of life can attest to this.
10. They know how to set boundaries.
Many of us were raised to never say “no,” yet there are times when you must. Not every business offer is sound, and not every partner is suitable. Successful people understand that they cannot take on every project or collaborate with every person. They understand that they must sometimes take care of themselves first.
Of course, it’s often a good idea to say “no” in a creative way that leaves the door open for future opportunities.
Don’t be scared to say “no” to your own goal on occasion. This relates to the previous topic on work-life balance. You must occasionally say “no” to another hour of work and “yes” to taking a break. You may not feel like you’re putting in enough effort, but you are. You, too, require personal time.
